The Vancouver Canucks played a phenomenal game against the Dallas Stars, winning with a lopsided 5-2 score. The unsung hero of this game was Christopher Tanev, putting up 19:57 minutes and spurring Henrik Sedin's beautiful goal assisted by Daniel Sedin and Alex Burrows. Tanev, though he has yet to score his first NHL goal, is playing incredibly solidly for the Canucks throughout the current d-men injuries. Another player who's spectacular play is flying under the radar is Mason Raymond. Raymond had 2 shots on goal, both definite chances for a goal. Raymond, though he hasn't been putting up points, he has been creating excellent plays and opportunities and has been reliable. Daniel Sedin's two spectacular goals and one fantastic assist put him at the top of the points charts for the NHL, Torres' goal was his first since New Year's Eve, and Henrik's goal and two assists place him in third place in the points standings. Tonight the Canucks played amazingly, confirming, yet again, that they belong at the top of the standings.

The King's Speech

Today I saw "The King's Speech" directed by Tom Hooper. I had high expectations for this movie, as I had been told it was fantastic, it is nominated for 12 Oscars, and is ranked 95th on IMDb. My expectations were reached and passed. "The King's Speech" is a impressively phenomenal film that touches you through it's excellent composition and acting. I can see why some have said that they were bored at first, or thought it was slow, but I really enjoyed the pace it went at. I loved how we got to know our characters in all their qualities and flaws as the plot line drifted along at a comfortable pace. I left the theatre feeling really good and fulfilled by the magical piece of art I had just witnessed. "The King's Speech" gets a 9/10 from me.

Canucks vs. Predators

Scoring Summary:
(Period - Team - Goal Scorer - Time of Goal)
2nd Period - Predators - Erat - 14:13
2nd Period - Canucks - D. Sedin - 18:15 (PP)
2nd Period - Predators - Spaling - 18:22
2nd Period - Predators - Fisher - 19:11

The Predators did not turn into prey as hoped when the Canucks rolled into town for their last game of the 3 game road trip when Vancouver fell 3-1 in regular time. Five of the top six defence men are out with injuries, leaving Salo and Ehrhoff to run the blue line with Manitoba Moose call-ups. The rookies played well, they were consistent, and didn't try anything fancy or give up chances. The Canucks seemed to have some difficulty keeping the puck in the offensive zone, and had a hard time capitalizing on opportunities. The Canucks did, however lead the shots 36 - 26. The Vancouver Canucks will return home and play the Dallas Stars at Rogers Arena on Saturday.
